    During the time when women started to fill the seats of college classrooms, there were seven exceptional women who were encouraged to start a women’s society at the DePauw’s School of Music, DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. On October 15, 1885, Alpha Chi Omega was born. At the time, it was the 10th women’s fraternity in the country. To date, Alpha Chi Omega serves more than 230,000 members in more than 140 collegiate chapters and nearly 200 alumnae chapters nationwide.

    Alpha Chi Rho

    Cultivating men of word and deed is what it’s all about. Alpha Chi Rho aka “Crows,” was founded on June 4, 1895 at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut by the Reverend Paul Ziegler, Carl Ziegler, William H. Rouse, Herbert T., Sherriff and William A.D. Eardeley. Sometime in the 1900s, it was decided that for growth to happen, the official duties of running the Fraternity would be taken out of the hands of the undergraduates and put into the hands of graduates. Because of this, Alpha Chi Rho has grown to 33 active chapters, 4 colonies and 13 active alumnae chapters. What an achievement!

    On November 15, 1901, five friends founded Alpha Sigma at the State Female Normal School in Farmville, VA. They were all initially invited to become members of the school’s existing sororities. However, imagine if they had accepted those invitations, it would mean that our Founders would not be sorority sisters.

    They became the 4th Sorority to exist within the school. The purpose of Alpha Sigma Alpha is to nurture values and ideals in women who are known for their character and heart. Alpha Sigma Alpha inspires women to lead, to serve and most of all to make a difference. Since then, there are currently over 175 chapters of Alpha Sigma Alpha nationwide with more than 120,000 members.     Delta Gamma, commonly known as DG, is a sorority founded in 1873 in Oxford, Mississippi, at the Lewis School for Girls. It was established by three young women who were unable to go home for the Christmas break. Together, Anna Boyd, Mary Comfort and Eva Webb created a "club of mutual helpfulness." With this, Delta Gamma has grown to over 250,000 initiated members.

    Triangle Crest

    Triangle is the only fraternity that limits its members to male students majoring in engineering, architecture, and the physical, mathematical, biological, and computer sciences. Triangle’s origin came from the desire of college friends wishing to extend their friendship, not only through college but also for life. In 1906, sixteen civil engineering juniors at the University of Illinois began the association that is known today as the Triangle Fraternity.  These Founders based their organization on the principles of honor, friendship, character, brotherhood, and courage.
